What you are seeing
- The Create Shared Client button or menu item is not there
- You can create individual OAuth clients but not a shared one for a team
- A walkthrough or video shows an action your instance does not have
What causes it
An older version of the OAuth module is installed. Shared clients were added in a later release, so an instance still running the earlier module has no such action to show.
How to fix it
- Update the apps list first. Enable Developer Mode, then go to Apps → Update Apps List so Odoo re-reads what is available. Without this, Odoo may not offer the newer version at all.
- Upgrade the OAuth module. Go to Apps, find MCP Server OAuth 2.1, and choose Upgrade.
- Reload the browser. Menus and actions are cached in the open session. A hard refresh after the upgrade is what makes the restored action visible.
How to confirm it is fixed
The Create Shared Client action appears in the OAuth client view.

What is a shared OAuth client for, in an Odoo MCP setup?
It lets a team connect through one registered client while each person still signs in as themselves, so every request carries that individual's Odoo permissions and shows up under their name in the audit log. It saves registering a separate client per colleague without collapsing everyone into one shared identity.
If that was not it
- The MCP module does not appear in the Odoo Apps list
- Odoo MCP OAuth login redirects to an error page
- Claude connects to Odoo but shows no tools
The full setup reference lives in the MCP Server documentation, and How to connect Claude to Odoo walks through a clean install from the start. Free setup support is included with the MCP Server for Odoo — if none of the above matches what you are seeing, send us the audit log entry and we will read it with you.
