Odoo MCP OAuth login redirects to an error page

The redirect URI registered on your OAuth client does not match the one the AI client is actually using. Add the client's exact callback URL under MCP → OAuth Clients and retry the sign-in.

What you are seeing

  • The Odoo login screen appears, you sign in, and the browser lands on an error page
  • The AI client reports that the connection was not authorised after the redirect
  • Browser login (OAuth) fails while an API key on the same instance works fine

What causes it

The redirect URI in the OAuth client registration does not match the URI the AI client is using. OAuth deliberately refuses to redirect anywhere that was not registered in advance — an unregistered callback is exactly what an interception attack looks like, so the server cannot make an exception for it.

How to fix it

  1. Open the OAuth client registration. Go to MCP → OAuth Clients in Odoo and open the client the AI tool connects with.
  2. Add the callback URL that client actually uses. Claude uses https://claude.ai/api/mcp/auth_callback and ChatGPT uses https://chatgpt.com/connector_platform_oauth_redirect. Add the one matching the tool you are connecting; add both if your team uses both.
  3. Match it exactly, character for character. The comparison is exact: scheme, host, path and any trailing slash all count, and http does not match https. Paste the URI rather than retyping it.
  4. Retry the sign-in from the AI client. Start the connection again from the client rather than reloading the failed error page, so a fresh authorisation request is sent with the now-registered URI.

How to confirm it is fixed

A correct registration ends with the browser returning to the AI client and the connector showing as connected. If sign-in now succeeds but no tools appear, the OAuth side is finished and the remaining step is model access.

Should I use OAuth or an API key to connect to Odoo?

Use OAuth for user-facing connections, where each person signs in as themselves and inherits their own Odoo permissions and audit trail. Use an API key for machine clients such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code or a scheduled agent, where there is no interactive browser sign-in to perform.
